Introducing Christine "Chris" Wenz - New Principal of HVES

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Wenz as the new Principal of Hoosac Valley Elementary School, effective July 1, 2025.

Chris brings to HVES a wealth of experience and a deep passion for early childhood education. She previously served as principal at Leeds Elementary School in Northampton, where she led a preschool through grade 5 community focused on developmentally appropriate instruction, inclusive practices, and data-informed teaching.

Chris’s background includes leadership in Responsive Classroom and PBIS, deep knowledge of the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, and experience supporting educators in implementing the Science of Reading. She’s also well-versed in using assessment data to drive instruction, overseeing student support processes, and building strong family and community partnerships.

Chris began transitioning into her new role this June, with visits to meet staff, students, and families and to begin learning about our school community. She is excited to work collaboratively with staff and families to continue building on the strong foundation already in place at HVES.
